I'm sorry, but I disagree.

I once did work (restoring old car radios) for a guy who had a garage setup
like you describe. It was fabulous. He had some cars that he had stored for
years. Receipts for parts, work done etc. Problem was, he collected these
cars. The receipts could had been for parts or work that went into any of
them. He could have (and did) passed the stuff off as work and parts done to
cars other than those that got them.

Beyond that, I can make up receipts. An original invoice from someplace, a
scanner and a laser and I can make any receipt you want.

The only way to evaluate a car is to drive it. It's not unreasonable to bring
along a mechanic if you feel you need one either.

I'm sorry you were offended by these guys, but the bottom line is that you're
asking someone who doesn't know you to spend a large amount of money on a car
solely based on trust? No chance.
