While it's true that Triumphs' panel fit was never their best feature, a
wider gap at the top of the door's back edge (say half an inch) is
normally a sign that sills have been replaced without bracing the body,
and definitely not a desirable feature--it means the body's out of
alignment. When the sills are cut out, the back of the body sags,
increasing the gap at the top of the door (my car's DPO committed this
sin).
Before old sills are cut out, the body must be braced between the A and
B posts.The correct dimensions are available in the proper BL workshop
manual, available from Moss and Rimmer.
