Phil - there are two options. Given that the tube is shot, it doesn't
matter if you damage it in removal. The gauge could be rebuilt by
Nisonigers (sp?)or elsewhere for about 125 or you can get one (new or
rebuilt?) from TRF for about 160 (if they still have them). Actually there
might be two other options - find another used one with capillary intact;
clean it up yourself or find another supplier across the pond who might be
less expensive.

Try not to damage the housing - even though it is available out there, why
go through that hassle.

I believe my TR2 capillary tube (water thermometer gauge) is
shot (and I'm
having a devil of a time trying to extract it from it's
housing (radiater
                end, not gauge end).

Looking through the parts catalog, I can't find a part
number for this. Is
this a buy it anywhere component, or is it in the category
as my baby tenax
                snaps - Impossible to replace?

If I can replace it, my options for removing it expand quite
a bit.
Otherwise, I'll have to keep soaking it and trying to get it
to free up.

                Ideas anyone?

                Thanks!
