In essence, the 2 ways are "bench calibration" and Driving calibration".

Depending on how much work is necessary on the speedo, you may need to do
one or both.  The bench calibration just gets the speedo very close to
right, so it is
easier to calibrate on the car.

Doing the driving calibration allows you to match the speedo reading to
your
exact tire size, etc.
