If that's all that's holding you back, check out
http://wp.com/metric/britcut.html because they sell whitworth taps & dies.
The image on that page lacks a great deal of clarity, but I ordered a couple
taps, and they arrived in short order.
Don't know anything about motors (yet), but I thought that might be of
interest. No financial interest, yada, yada, yada....
