I went to a junk yard today on my lunch hour to scour for any British
treasures and I saw a 74 TR6 that caused me to stop in my tracks in a cold
sweat. This TR6 had been hit broadside on the passenger side very hard. If
there was a passenger in that car, they are dead now. The entire passenger
side was crushed in almost to the emergency brake handle. The passenger seat
was crushed beneath the metal that was pushed in. I could just see the left
bolster of the seat under all of the mangled metal of the door and frame.
The right side of the dash and the right side of the rear package shelf were
crushed inward as well as the rear of the convertible top frame on the right
side. I mean, this car was folded in like a cheap beer can. And we're
talking about a fairly strong frame on the TR6. I mean, it scared the sh*t
out of me thinking about someone in my family being in an accident like
that. I just stood there and stared at it for a couple of minutes. Then of
course I began digging through it to see what might still be useful. Not
much. Regards, Greg "counting my blessings" Hutmacher
