Years ago I rented a 20 foot Ryder truck to go pick up a 4000 lb machine.
At a stop light I had stopped to close to a rail road track. To be on the
safe side I backed up a little and when the light went green I went to move
forward still in reverse. I didn't hit the little car behind me but I think
the poor driver had a bit of a scare.

Then there was the time I was driving my 1969 Dodge van (with the slant 6)
in Boston and after crossing the Boston University bridge I was waiting to
get on to Storrow Drive. The entrance ramp on to Storrow merged into the
high speed lane (Bob Lang probably knows if it was the BU bridge or an
other). I saw an opening and just as I floored it to get in to the opening
there was a crashing bang and a nudge. I was moving and could not stop
because of on coming traffic and..... In my rear view mirror I saw a VW
fastback with a mangled bonnet. I stopped down the road at a police place
and reported it but never heard any more about it.
