Greg,
I think your observations regarding the amount of effort required depending
on the hole are correct. Furthermore, assuming the slave rod moves the same
distance regardless of which hole it is attached to, the amount of movement
in the fork (and thus the release bearing) will be less in the lowest (ie
easiest to push) hole. And conversely, the movement will be greatest with
the rod attached to the highest (hardest to push) hole.
If I am lying, I am sure I will be corrected in no time.
