Richard:
Please forward to Larry Porter--I couldn't find an e-mail address in the
post.

Larry:

I don't know what regulations apply to importing this car, but I can
relate one story about a Ferrari that was recently owned by TTI/TAMU.

It seems the owner of this Ferrari decided to import it into the US,
managed to get it here somehow, then learned that to make it
legal (ie., many design features of that model were not meeting US
standards for that year of mfg, one example was bumper height).
He determined that it was more cost effective to donate it to
good old A&M and take a tax writeoff for the "value" of the
car than to try to make required changes. Anyway, we had that car
for many years in a hanger at the TTI research facility; it was
used on a few occasions for high-speed skid trailer tests (pulling
an instrumented trailer across a test patch of road surface to
determine the frictional characteristics.) When the car finally
needed a repair (a $700 water pump, I was told), TTI surplused it, and it
was auctioned off to the public. I have no idea what it brought.

I did notify some of the lists I read about the availability of this
car through auction at the time, perhaps some readers know of its
fate.

Larry: good luck with your importing attempt. I hope you have better
luck than the guy I described.

Regards,
Ray

Scions,
Help! Our website received this note and I am clueless as to what to
suggest. If anybody has any experience relocating a non working car from the
UK to the US would you please contact Larry Porter directly?
Thanks,
Richard Ceraldi
