        If you've never fired a black powder weapon, you couldn't 
        understand... Hand weapons spit from both ends (BTDT) and 
        artillery is loaded by hand (if they're doing it historically) 
        with loose powder... It's a little less hazardous than race 
        driving (the other side isn't really trying to "beat" you)... 
        Which means "watch your ass".
        The Brits are REAL serious about historical reenactment. I think 
        the English Civil War (Mid 1600's) is the most popular, with
        The American Civil War, Napoleonic, medeival, Celtic, Roman, 
        WWI & WWII reenactment groups active among others...
