Oil Pan Cleaning

Hello All,

Well I've finally turned my attention to the engine of my TR3. The bottom of
the oil pan, of course, is a rich stew of primordial gray sludge. To make
things worse, the cover plate on the pan provides for limited access to the
oil pan surface. I'm sure it's been covered before, but what are the
recommendations for the best way to clean this thing out?
