I think I suffered some brain fade and did not state my question clearly...

- I know the round flashers will work,
- I know I can make the rectangular bracket work with the round flashers,
- I cannot seem to locate the round brackets at any local auto parts
suppliers,

...so my question really is:

Can I get one of these round flasher brackets (just the bracket is all I'm
after) off one of the many American/Japanese cars I am likely to find in a
local junk yard?

(I don't have any experience with American or Japanese cars -- all I've ever
owned has been British or German)
