I am still trying to get my 1973 TR6 started. All my plugs keep getting wet
with small black deposits everytime I check them after a few attempts to start
the car.
I cleaned and re-gapped points (.015") and plugs (.025") and I am getting an
orange spark not a blue one from the plugs when I hold them against the block
to make sure they are firing.
Shouldn't the spark be blue?
Could my coil be bad? I'm still using the original 25 year old coil, but I do
have a brand new Lucas Sport Coil that I could try, I didn't want to change to
many things at one time because that would make troubleshooting a lot more
difficult.
I did take the coil off the car so I could buff it to a chrome-like shine, and
I did notice a slight dent in the side of the coil, would this dent affect
operation of the coil?
I did rebuild the ZS carbs and have adjusted the needles (CCW) all the way
down to the leanest setting, and I am still getting wet plugs.
The engine always started effortlessly before the carb rebuild.
What am I missing?
Why are my plugs wet?
Can the jets inside the carbs be replaced? They seem to be pressed in and the
needle is smooth but seem to have a lot of clearance inside the jet.
I installed Grose Jets and I made sure that the float height was set at the
correct height (11/16" from bowl rim to top of floats with carb upside down).
The inside of the carb , bridge area and air valve are wet when I feel inside
with my fingers, why does my fuel mixture seem to rich and how do I lean it?

Thanks in advance,
