Jack -
Why would you WANT to "upgrade" to a diaphragm clutch (yes, listers, I
am being deliberately contentious!) I always thought the industry-wide
switch from coil-sprung to diaphragm-sprung clutches was just a cost
reduction - equally functional, and cheaper to manufacture, because
there are a lot fewer parts to put together.
I've also has a diaphragm clutch fail on my '89 Grand Prix, in a way
that's just not possible with the earlier design - some bend-over tab
that held the whole assembly together broke, and I suddenly couldn't
shift:[ Still had 30,000 miles left in the lining, too.
Does anybody know of any advantage in a diaphragm clutch?
