Check the generator anyway!  I puzzled over a Mopar charging system for a
whole afternoon... "couldn't be the alternator, it's only a month old"...
a bit of crud was stuck under the alternator brush which didn't let it
touch the commutator.  Took hours to find and minutes to fix.

You may have to adjust the regulator.  I'm not sure how this is done as my
car has a GM alternator (solid-state regulator built in) and as such have
never had to do anything ;-)
