Hello Richard,

Sounds like the battery is definitely not getting a charge. Here are some
things to check.

1. When driving, where is the ammeter needle pointing? To the Positive or
Negative side?

2. Is your fan belt too loose? Is the generator pulley slipping?

3. Take off the battery connections. Take a jacknife and scrape the junk
off the inside of the cable connectors until they are shiny. Sometime a
coating builds up. Since the battery is new, the posts are probably clean,
but it won't do any harm to clean them also with the knife. Put the
connectors on tightly, and if you want, coat them with petroleum jelly.

4. Clean the connections on the ground lug to the chassis, and on the hot
side to the starting solenoid. Take them off and use a wire brush or
sandpaper.

5. If that doesn't do it the generator may have failed, but it could also
be the voltage regulator.

Good luck.
