         The yearly overheating arguments are raging, it must be spring. If
you think it is bad here then you need  to check out the Tiger group, they
have been hot for a month. 
           I agree with your revised statments, However the TR3-4 cooling
system is different than all the others in that it has a third passsageway
(bypass) in the thermostat housing. With the stock (skirted) thermostat
removed there will be a portion  (1/4) of the heated engine water that will
go directly back into the engine without passing thru the radiator. All the
more reason for keeping the proper thermostat in your TR3. 
          PS  The late model electric fan, cat-converter MGBs are
overheating too.
