Well, to my experience, aluminum oxide is white. BUT I've never mixed it
with gasoline, maybe it goes black!! Are you sure the fuel lines are
aluminum? Does a magnet stick to them (quick test-- if yes, they're
steel, if no, not steel :-))
They may be copper lines. Copper oxide is green and can be black-colored
too.
I've never seen aluminum fuel lines, only copper & steel. Most steel
lines are coated with a galvanized product (Zinc chromate??) so they don't
look all that steely. I would be more inclined to think that a rubber
hose was rotting and shedding particles into the fuel stream. Have all
rubber hoses been replaced? If "no", replace and re-check...
