Resitering NY car in MA

Hi Folks,
        I am trying to buy a Triumph registered in NY State.  The owner was
told by NYS Registry of Motor Vehicle that they do not issue a
certifciate of title.  For me to register the care in Massachusetts I
need a certificate of Title.  Has anyone on the list gone through the
process of registering a NYS car in MA?  Can you advise as to what
documentation was needed?  Thanks in advance.
