FWIW - for a period in the late sixties, the London Metropolitan Police had
a number of GT6's used on patrols on the outskirts where roads led to
motorways.
Rumour has it that these cars were driven mostly by women who had done
rather well at the Police Driving School at Hendon though whether they were
taught to drive Mk 1 6's in the wet is open to debate. Rumour further has
it that these girls (and a good few of them were pretty stunning to look
at) insisted their uniform was changed so they could wear trousers.
Allegedly getting out of a 6 "in a hurry to apprehend" could not be done
with decorum in a skirt!
