Let me further this discussion. Most cigarette lighters are grounded
through the body of the lighter, so you need to make sure that you are
making good ground contact. Second, most are a single wire hook up, and as
Andy suggested, best if installing a fuse holder inline to your power
source,i.e. the hot side of your fuse block. Some units also have a lighted
ring surrounding the outlet, this is wired into your dash light circuit.
They are fairly quick and easy to install. Just make sure the circuit is
fused, and you have a good ground. Might I also suggest, that if you don't
already own a circuit probe (an essintial part of the LBC tool box) that you
purchase one. You can chek the ground before attempting to use the "power
port". And, did you ever notice that the first 3 letters of Lucas are l,u
and c? Kind of like "Your Lucky they work."
