I friend of mine once slammed on the brakes of his Chevvy, going downhill,
and watched his bonnet/hood slide off onto the road. He then ran over the
bonnet, lost grip, and slid into the intersection, colliding with another
car. (The police were highly amused: they looked like winning the
departmental prize for attending the most unlikely traffic accident.)
