I'll second this idea.  I bought 3/8 and 5/16 by the 100, 7/16 and 1/2
sizes by the dozen, from a local industrial supply house.  I found
them in the Yellow pages under "Fasteners"  I spent
about $20 total and have peace of mind that no 30-year-old
nylocs are holding the front end together.  Lots cheaper than
the hardware stores here.
