Martin,
First of all try cleaning up the female thread within the pump itself but
look out for small pieces of swarf getting into the pump. You've got a
common difficulty of alignment. Slacken off the nut feeding the supply from
the tank, then loosen the pump mounting bolts and then you'll have a more
wobbly assembly to engage the nut in the pump outlet. Loosely tighten both
inlet and outlet nuts to tight finger tight, tighten pump mountings, then
finally tighten in and out pipe nuts. The leakage may be that the fibre
washer which SHOULD be around to effect a proper seal has either vanished
or got squashed to a state that it won't work no more. Fit new washer.
