So, if I read between the lines right, the stock generator on a TR4A is
pushed to 
the limit by night driving with all the stock lights lit?  I can't check
now (due to  
rebuilding), but I noticed that the dash ammeter was reading something
close to 
negative amps at night.  (i.e. alternator putting out less current than the
total draw, 
thereby discharging the battery)

Is this normal?  If not I may need to check/replace the generator and
regulator 
while I am at it!
