The story I read was that August Busch lifted the name Budweiser and the slogan
"
King of Beers" when he started making beer here in the states. The original
Budvar
was called the "Beer of Kings" . In 1996 A-B wanted to distribute Budweiser in
Czech
and the Czechs told them where to stick the swill. That's why you won't see
U.S. Bud
in Czechland. This was an article in Investor's Business Daily.
BTW, I've had some Budvar and it's some mighty tasty brew.
