What is a lifting eye on a TR6? It is flat piece of metal at the rear
of the engine to which (on mine anyway) the ground strap to the
battery was bolted to the block. It is about 3"-4" long, has a large
(1 1/2") hole on one end and then a smaller diameter hole below it.
I found this piece in the Moss catalog on page 6, it is part #16.
     What is it for?

For lifting the motor out of the engine compartment. You need either
a "cherry picker" or a rafter mounted hoist with a hook. Attach the
hook through the lifting eye, unbolt the engine from tranny,
disconnect all hoses, wires, etc. and voila! Lift away.

Oh yeah, don't bump the fenders, watch out for the bonnet lid, be
careful of dripping fluids, etc., etc.
