Ken,
If I may humbly offer a few words of wisdom; if you are considering
buying either a Miata or a TR6, I suspect that if you buy a TR6 you
will be very disapointed. Your remark that you would even consider
buying a '99 Miata is the clue here. The TR6 is now a 25 year old car;
if you have never owned a 25 year old car, you will be in for quite a
shock.
Most people who want to buy a sportscar will fall into 2 classes
(IMHO); those that want new, trouble-free motoring and those that want an
older sportscar. Many soon-to-be TR owners consider buying either a TR,
Spit, Healey, Duetto, MG, whatever - at no time does the thought of a newer
car enter their mind. These owners will most likley be very happy
with their purchase. Those that see these cars as a inexpensive
alternative to newer sports cars will often end up frustrated and
angry.
My advice is to be very aware of what you want, and focus
on that. This may be one of the few times in your life that myopia
pays off.
