Jeff,

Boy you do have original equipment! That little jobbie is a clip for your
seat belt. The original kangol belt tab clicked right in there. Not sure it
will work for replacement belts such as Securon as the clips that my 73
came equipped with are long gone.
I dont think these things are available anymore so you may have a unique
item. I'd be interested if anyone is aware where they might be available.
