starters

listers, I seem to always be losing the retaining spacer on my T/R 3-A 
starter and knocking the rear cap off thereby losing a starter due to a 
moving shaft, anyone had this probl;em or how do I solve it, third time 
in 3 years today. I say spacer for lack of knowledge of a better word.
