Background color on the Spit Database

Because of several comments I have received regarding readability of the
text on the front page background, I have revised the scheme.  While I
retained the same graphic, I have changed the contrast and color.  I
hope it is more readable now.  Please let me know if anybody is still
experiencing difficulties.
