I had toyed with the Idea of using the old Spitfire front calipers and
rotors, when I converted to GT6 uprights and brakes, on the rear of the
Spitfire. I also would have mounted them inboard, between the diff axle
flange, and the axle shaft, but the old, no parking brake (recent thread)
kept me from doing this. I had entertained a cam/lever/pinch arrangement
for a simple parking brake, but never pursued it. I guess, other than
possibly violating the law requiring a street driven vehicle to have a
parking brake of some type, you could just put it in gear (which I do
anyway). But if your brakes were to ever fail, you would have NO back up,
however dismal (if you have ever tried to use the hand brake to stop the
car you know what I mean!!).
