For Peter Hore
Hi, Peter,
Sorry I didn't make this clear. Eight stroking is possibly a UK term but
here's what it means.
If you can imagine an engine firing regularly on every second spark, i.e.
induction, compression, no ignition, exhaust then induction compression,
ignition, exhaust. You might think of it as a regular misfire.
A good analogy is a two stroke motor, such as a chainsaw engine, running on
full choke at tickover-two stroke motorcycles also do this on the over-run,
although it is strictly four stroking.
Hope this clears things up.
Regards, Dave Hill
