The factory manual for my GT6 (the one with the red vinyl cover)
says to be sure to install it with the sliding joint to the REAR.
I have installed mine both ways and haven't noticed any difference
but I think that if the splines are worn, reversing it would either
make it a lot better or a lot worse if you have a vibration.  I
take mine to a driveshaft shop to have it balanced every 5 years
or so and it always seems to come back with the weights rearranged
and running smoother than before I took it in. YMMV.
