Nope not visible - one hook of the "s" goes over the back board of the seat 
(Under the 
vinyl) and the other hook of the "s" clips on to the seat frame...

Think of the funky clips that hold a spit door panel on - except, instead of a 
"spring 
peg" that goes into a hole in the door there's  a flat clip that goes over an 
inner edge 
like the flat clip that goes over the door panel...just a flat "S" shaped clip

These are, officially, rare as hens teeth....
