I checked the gearbox oil level, for the first time since I got it, I
know
maybe I should have checked it before. I undid the level filler plug,
and
oil shot out, I think the box has been overfilled.

Equipment, Spitfire 1500 non-od box, with two peace's of wood as
mountings until
the proper ones come on wednesday.

What happens when the gearbox is overfilled?

I have always had problems getting the car into second, and I was
wondering
weather this has something to do with it. Does the overfilling of the
box
explain the oil leak, or it it in some way stop the leak. I think the
overfilling could be explained by the gearbox mounting when I got the
car being
an old engin mounting that was wedged in place, not good. I think my
carpentry
skills are a better patch.

After caifully pealing off the varnish with a scalpel, I drilled another
whole
for the vacume meter (where the GT6 air vent goes). Sanded it by hand,
no power
tools, and stuck down some peeling venere. Rubed it again, removed all
the dust
with a lint free cloth, and applyed two coats of extra extra high gloss
varnish,
within 6 hours of each other. I have since lefed them to do rock hard,
so I can
sand em flat, wipe with wight spirits, and apply a third coat. How long
do
you recon I should leave it for? I am using an oil based varnish. How
many
coats of the stuff does it need, 5 - 10 - more?
