I painted the underside of my hood last night, the first bit of color to
be applied to the project car. I'm SO psyched!
My choice of color underwent a bit of development after I put it up to
vote here on the list. The voting, as you'll probably recall, favored a
metallic emerald green. In the course of looking at green cars to find
a nice color I saw a new BMW Z3 roadster zip by, in the perfect shade.
So when I got home I hit their web site to see what they called it.
(Boston Green. It's nice.)
Anyway, in the course of cruising their site I found a color I liked
even better. Montreal Blue. Really nice deep blue. I was hooked.
So I trundled off to the paint store, only to find out that it's only
available in base/clear (I just wanted to use a single stage for the
"unimportant" bits like door jambs and underneath stuff), so I grabbed
the chip book and started exploring my options.
The winner? Royal Blue Metallic from a 98 Ford truck. It's pretty
close to a royal they use on some of the new Tauruses as well. Sweet.
Later,
John
