Justin,

I was involved in a collision with an uninsured motorist two
years ago in Virginia. Because of weather conditions there
would have been no fault to either party, but the other guy
left the scene before the police arrived. I had his license
number, used that and a cooperative police officer to track him
down and find out he was uninsured. That plus that fact that
he left was enough to convince my insurance company (State
Farm) to classify the accident as a hit-and-run. State Farm
paid my deductible and my insurance hasn't changed (perfect
record for 10 years now.) The accident doesn't appear on my
policy. I don't know if this is due to Virginia's uninsured motorist
laws or State Farm; I suspect that my agent (who went out of
his way to make me happy) had a lot to do with it.

My advice: take the liars to court, and get your agent on your side.
He wants your business.
