On the earlier 2000s, that TR4-based gearbox used a Vitesse input shaft
IMS.

Right. I think it's actually rather easier to swap a GT6 motor into a
2000 than it is the other way around, as the 2000 blocks might not be
drilled for the GT6 motor mounts. It does require swapping the front
(and rear?) engine plate, though. I'm looking to do this sometime really
soon with my 2000, as it came to me with a blown (SERIOUS hole in the
block) and a Mk.. 1 GT6 engine.

The situation in the U.S. is basically that there are not a lot of 2000
engines around. The GT6 and TR6 engines are somewhat easier to find.
