My car's fitted with a pre-engaged starter, which don't give any of these problems, but it gives a problem with it sticking. The thing catches the teeth on the fly wheel and is can't turn. So I have take up the ceremonial rocking of the starter. I think this is a flaw of LBC's, my Metro had a dog on the motor spindle, which you had to turn if it went. My parents old Austin Princess needed to be hit with a large spanner 1/4 of the time, depending where it stopped. So it's not just you car. -- James Carpenter Yellow '79 spit wired by a trained marmot |
