I don't know about the TR6 but for the GT6, and the Spitfire, you could
order a factory installed oil cooler. I would assume it would also be
available for the TR6 as well. The Spitfire uses a sandwich adaptor, which
is very similar to what is available for cars today. The GT6 (and the TR6
I suspect) on the other hand used a special oil filter canister housing
with a hose fitting welded/brazed into the angled side of the canister
housing, a special blocking/bypass plate that fitted between the oil
canister/filter and engine block, and then another return hose fitting was
screwed into a normally plugged (with a large screw plug) oil passageway
into the block. I have never personally seen a factory oil cooler fitted
to a GT6, but on my own GT6 I manufactured all the pieces myself (from
looking at factory photos and drawings of the various pieces), so it
appears and functions as the factory system, except that I used stainless
hoses instead of the usual rubber reinforced ones. I tried the usual bolt
on oil cooler adapter that you can purchase from most of the suppliers for
the GT6, but I didn't like the wimpy and hard to get at filter you had to use.
