I am new to the list so I wanted to take this opportunity to say hello and
Happy Holidays. I also saw this as a chance to put in my 2 cents.
I am 22 years old and have owned two Triumphs: a 1975 TR6 and a 1976 Spitfire
1500. My dad restored 3 MGA's in his day but I was too young to realize
exactly what that meant. By the time I figured it out they were all sold.
But I did remember being in the passanger seat with one of my brothers as my
mom drove with the top down. Back then (I was 6 or 7) all I was paying
attention too was the door on my side. We had to hold it closed because the
latch had a nasty habit of sticking open resulting in the door flying open.
Fun.
When I finally realized what an experience that was I bought the TR6 had it
for 5 years and ended up having to sell it because of school. The problem was
I traded it for the Spitfire and up here in Vermont that was not too practical
to say the least. I ended up selling that and bought a Trooper (what a
decline). My heart was still with the Triumphs though and with some help from
my dad (and some smooth talking with my mom) I bought back the original TR6.
There is nothing like driving one of these cars. My dad saw it, you see it, I
eventually saw it and some day my children may get that same opportunity that
I did when I was 6, as will yours. I think the LBC traditions are still
strong and will continue to be even for generation Xer's.
Thanks for listening.
