Mark:

If you do this, the wipers will park 180 degrees from where they are supposed
to. When converting from positive to negative ground, nothing needs to be done
to the wiper motor.

When you change the polarity on the wiper motor, depending on the type of
motor, one of two things will happen - either the motor will turn in the same
direction as before, or it will rotate in the reverse direction. To the
wipers, it makes no difference. The internal mechanism of the wiper motor
assembly converts rotary motion to linear motion. Regardless of the direction
of rotation, when the rotary portion of the gear is in a given position, the
linear portion will be in the given corresponding position.

Changing the gear 180 degrees is a good idea when converting from LHD to RHD,
or vice-versa.

There is one potential problem with reversing the polarity on a wiper motor if
it is of the type that will reverse direction of rotation. If the wipers have
been used a lot, there is the possibility that the gears have worn badly in
one direction, such that operation will be rough or jerky in the oppositie
direction. Not always, and maybe never, but a possibility.
