Erik,

There are still plenty of motors floating around, typically the cars
rusted faster than motors exploded!

If you're on the east coast, I've got two friends in that neck of the
woods with either the motor in hand or with good leads.

If you're in the south central part of the country I've got a TR6 motor
(roughly '72 vintage) that's been pulled apart with some of the machine
work started. It came with the TR6 project car that no one wants to
take off my hands!

If you need more details for either, give me an e-mail at
gambony@hotmail.com Unfortunately my the e-mail that the list is sent
to strips address information before I see it!

Eric, before you panic and toss the big bucks out to some retailer, shop
around. Since you have retired the TR6 from daily driver status, you can
now be patient and shop wisely. I bought an aborted TR6 resto that had
sat out side for many years. The $800 purcahse price yeilded a freshly
machined short block in very good shape, new .020 over pistons, fresh
bearings, and no damage to the thrust washers surfaces. I sold off the
remaining carcas and parts for $500, yeilding a very useful rebuilt
shortblock for only $300.
So, hit the classifieds and ask on the list. I find this is an excellent
time of year to get bargains on parts and projects that have been given
up on. People get sick of lookin at that pile of parts taking up space
all year long, and some cash waved at 'em will get them to move it out.
