Mine has been like this for years (ie. barely over the 1/4 mark). I
noticed it even dropped slightly more after I recently overhauled the
cooling system.
But I think the reason is due to the temp gauge and/or temp sending
unit. I don't think there is anything wrong just your feedback system
(gauge and sender) are calibrated different than others may be.
I had been meaning to calibrate mine to determine what the min and max
settings correspond to but have had no time so far. I do plan on doing
this in the spring though.
