TR6 engine falter

My car's engine tends to come down haltingly when I let off the gas.  If
I'm decelerating, there isn't much trouble, but when I'm accelerating, and
I let off to shift, then this faltering occurs.  This doesn't affect
drivability, but I'm wondering if it might be a sign of an engine problem
that should be resolved.
