The roof of a GT6 will crush like a tin can in a rollover. There aren't even
any front side pillars on a GT6, just the Spitfire windshield frame, and
that's worthless for rollover protection. Any coupe or sedan, new or modern,
will not be able to withstand a rollover accident. In fact, thousands of
people are paralyzed every year because they break their necks in such
accidents. Case in point if Frank Williams, the F1 team owner, who happened
to be driving an 80s Ford Sierra. His car flipped and landed on its roof on
the driver's side; his passenger was unhurt.
It is true that an improperly mounted competition shoulder harness can be
dangerous. However, you don't need to have a rollbar in your car to mount
them effectively.
