Yes, but if you buy the replacement unit, you can then experiment with
the rebuild while still enjoying driving your TR. 
Everything I have read about checking clearances and end play, suggest
not only to be exceedingly tedious but generally beyond most peoples
mechanical expertise.

I for one don't own all of the run out gauges and micrometers that one
needs to do a professional job.  And I would rather be driving than
fixing.
