I always install the long bolt first. And I've done this a BUNCH of times.
This seems to be the best/easiest way. Then you swing the diff around
this bolt using a car jack to push the diff into position. Install the
front bushings on the diff, not on the frame bolts. That way you can be
sure they are nestled in their pockets, and aren’t pinched. It takes a
little finagling, but it will go in there. Just having the frame on jack
can't possible bend/distort this area of the frame (unless its just a large
rust conversion of the original frame. This is a really substantial piece
of the frame, and quite frankly, I don't believe that you could bend one
out of shape in this area even in a sever accident.
