Aha, now you are in _my_ domain >:->
Here's what I use to tackle rusty bolts:
Liquid Wrench (made by Gunk)
WD-40, and lots of it
GM penetrating fluid (in a spray can, it eats paint too)
Tabasco Sauce (works well but can burn you)
Liquid Wrench likes to be tapped in order to penetrate into the threads.
I have an 8-oz hammer that is handy to use.
I rarely use a torch to free up bolts, mostly because the only torch I
have hot enough is the Tiger-Torch and it frightens me :-O
If you have a part that is rusty and you don't want to wrestle with it,
another trick is to let it sit in 2-stroke oil (the blue-green stuff)-- I
haven't done this but I hear it works.
I don't like forcing a nut or bolt, I have rounded off too many. If you
do end up breaking the bolt or rounding the nut, Vice-Grips are very handy.
Make sure you *know* you can replace the nut or bolt before yanking on it!
After 3 days of assorted potions I got all the bolts out of my pedal
assembly with no troubles, aside from hot wrenches (friction)-- I re-used
all the bolts and captured nuts after chasing them with the right tap & die.
I will be prepared to eat my words come the time to remove the lefthand
rear wing... it's _really_ rusty :-(
